Pain is at epidemic proportions in our society, and unfortunately, western medical treatments are often ineffective at treating common pain conditions such as headaches, frozen shoulder, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, back pain, tennis elbow, IBS, menstrual cramps and many other diagnoses. The standard Allopathic (M.D.) paradigm is focused on symptoms and treating those symptoms with drugs or surgery in order to eradicate them. Not only that, conventional medicine tends to ignore the fact that a large precentage of people's problems actually come from their muscles. Dr. Janet Travell, who was Kennedy's doctor, cited studies showing that over 80% of reported pain symptoms in the clinics studied had myofascial origins (meaning caused by muscles), and could best be addressed by manipulative, hands-on therapy.
In my bodywork sessions, I focus on treating chronic pain and postural dysfunction approaching each client in a holistic way, focusing on finding the cause of the issue, rather than just treating symptoms. I look at all aspects of health: body, mind and spirit. Even in the most diseased state, health is always present. In my work, I integrate concepts of traditional Thai massage, trigger point therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, acupoint approaches, osteopathic adjustments and other therapeutic bodywork principles.
Thai Bodywork, or Nuad Boran as it is known in Thailand, is a natural, holistic approach to health and well-being that has been practiced for centuries and is the backbone of my work. Nuad Boran literally means "the old way of heaing with the hands" and is considered a major branch of traditional Thai medicine that physicians would use along with proper nutrition, physical exercise, and the use of medicinal herbs. Thai bodywork has a long history and traces roots to Ayurvedic Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Each session is performed fully clothed on a mat on the floor and involves gentle stretching and acupoint pressure to clear stagnation, improve range of motion, relieve pain and liberate energy. All stretching is done within the comfortable limits of each person - you do not need to be flexible to benefit from a treatment.
Some of the benefits of Thai bodywork:
- relieves pain due to arthritis, repetitive stress, overworked muscles
- addresses many physical problems that conventional allopathic medicine is not equipped to handle except by covering up with drugs that only suppress symptoms
- keeps body functioning at peak performance - great for athletes
- increases resistance to injury
- improves range of motion
- balances the body's energy pathways and restores the flow of energy throughout the body
- releases lactic acid and other toxins from areas of accumulation
- tones internal organs
- increases energy and peaceful alertness
- calms the emotions and creates deep relaxation
